Rabbi Jehiel Orenstein z”l Memorial Lecture: Dr. Robert Alter – “The Challenge of Translating the Bible”

Dr. Robert Alter is professor of Hebrew and Comparative Literature at the University of California at Berkley, where he has taught since 1967. With 24 published books including two prize-winning volumes on biblical narrative and poetry, he published his translation of the Hebrew Bible with commentary in 2018.
He is serving as scholar for the Rabbi Jehiel Orenstein z”l lecture, a program in honor of Congregation Beth El’s rabbi of 35 years.
