Our Jewish Learning Center (JLC)

At the JLC, we strive to nurture Jewish minds, inspire Jewish actions, and ignite Jewish spirits within a dynamic, engaging, and caring community. We look forward to having your child(ren) join us for an inspiring, joyful and music-filled year.

Community: Each classroom is a kehillah (community) of Jewish learners asking questions in a safe space, learning to be proud Jews, and doing mitzvot (good deeds).

Experienced Teachers: Our teachers have between 6 and 20 years of classroom experience and bring a wide range of expertise to the JLC.

Experiential, Multi-sensory Learning: Teachers use a variety of teaching methods to engage students on every level, including: embracing Jewish history as our shared family story, learning Hebrew through games and yoga,  participating in StorahTelling (using creative dramatics in Torah study), creating Torah diagrams, and chevrutah (paired) study. Students also participate in many social action projects. Our JLC students are engaged in active learning while receiving a fun, fulfilling and engaging Jewish education.

Programs Include:

— Sunday Morning Learning (Gr. K–5) and Wednesday Afternoon Learning (Grades 3-6)

— Complete Bar and Bat Mitzvah Preparation (JLC classes, Congregation Beth El tutors and workshops)

Gesher Program, a unique middle school experience exclusively for our 6th and 7th grade students. Gesher means bridge” and we believe that during your child’s middle school years they will be creating their own “bridge,” transitioning them into a more adult understanding of their place within the congregation, the Jewish community, and the world. There are many opportunities for field trips, Shabbatonim, and taking part in various service projects. 6th grade students continue the two-day-a-week program (Monday and Wednesday afternoons).  Our 7th grade B’nei Mitzvah students attend the Gesher program one day every week (Monday afternoons), and are also required to complete 15 hours of service.

— Family Programs, Leadership Training and Experiential Education

— Amazing Electives from Jewish Arts to Multimedia Jewish History and Acting

— Pre-Teen, Teen Social and Tikkun Olam (repairing the world) Programs
