Morning Specials
We offer a variety of specialized activities that children participate in weekly with their class. In addition, other school-wide special programs are scheduled throughout the year.
Music: Our music teacher and her guitar visit our 2s, 3s and 4s every week, exposing children to new songs, instruments, movement games and activities.
Yoga: Every other week, our children stretch, twist, and bend in yoga class. Practicing yoga helps with concentration, confidence and self-control. Namaste!
Tumbling: Balance, somersaults and strength are all part of the fun in tumbling class, taught every other week.
Nature: Every other week, our nature expert teaches about the environment, plants and animals. Children also explore the world around them through nature walks.
Enrichment Afternoons:
Each afternoon starts with our 2s, 3s, and 4s enjoying a dairy lunch brought from home.
Our 3s and 4s dive deeper into a variety of activities each afternoon.
Enrichment Afternoons begin at 12:00 and end at 2:00 pm.
Monday-Science: Children explore science concepts through hands-on activities–predicting, experimenting, observing and investigating to draw conclusions about topics such as weather, moving objects, structures and plant and animal life cycles.
Tuesday-Math: Children explore concepts of numeracy and foundations of mathematical learning through a variety of math manipulatives. Games and activities encourage and enhance children’s natural interest and curiosity about mathematics.
Wednesday-Literature: We highlight a new book each week, bringing it to life through crafts, music, dance, drama and games to help each child’s imagination soar. We encourage children to make connections between their own lives and the stories we read. Author studies, creation of class books and book sharing days are also part of our literature afternoons.
Thursday-Art Exploration: We nurture each child’s creativity through drawing, painting, collage and sculpture using a myriad of art media – charcoal, clay, oil pastels, wood and more! We emphasize the process and exploration of the materials and not the product.
Friday-Kabbalat Shabbat: Each week your child will knead, roll, braid, and bring home a freshly baked challah in preparation for welcoming in Shabbat. (Warning – due to the delicious aroma filling the halls at the end of class you may not be able to resist eating it right away!)
