Post-Kiddush Panel on Desert Stars
Saturday, March 18 at 1:00 pm
Join Cindy Chazan and Jay Leipzig in the Susan and Mitchell Lieberman Chapel for a fascinating panel discussion with representatives of Israeli non-profit Desert Stars. Desert Stars is a high school and gap year program for Bedouin, run by a joint staff and board comprised of Bedouin and Jews. The goal is to elevate the lives of young Bedouin who live on the lowest socio-economic rung in Israel, while at the same time creating a new Bedouin leadership that can bring Bedouin closer to Israel. The program has won every possible award in Israel and has succeeded in having the majority of participants go on to higher education. Hear how these teens’ lives have been impacted and how they in turn are having a profound impact on Israel and the Negev. Click here for more information.
